Imply movement possibilities with a moveable idea of this body part
If your feel your lower leg from the knee to the ankle as a solid shape like a 2 x 4 piece of lumber, you won’t trigger a suggestion of movement within this body segment. It will also be difficult to notice if any sections of your lower leg stay in a twist out of a centered position.
If you give yourself a more pliable, moveable image, you can start noticing your body in a different and helpful way. If you use a stack of donuts and get a feel for how the lower part, the middle part, and the part below the knee are positioned, you can begin to correct abnormal muscle tension.
You might have unbalanced muscle tension from an injury, or a habit of how you stand, or from something that happened to your body under high levels of threat. Ideally, you want to regain control of all segments, and restore midline balance to your lower leg.
This can help you with pain problems anywhere from your foot, ankle, knee, hip and even up into your back.

The donuts with googly eyes! You know I had to watch this one. Since you taught me this in our physical therapy sessions, I have become more in tune with my legs and I’ve been having less issues with my balance. Recently, my left knee has been popping inward and I wondered if this technique could work for it too.
